MFA

MFA is a hot-button topic these days! It is designed to ensure that it is really you trying to access something in the digital world. It can be a pain sometimes that we need to authenticate who we are, after all - WE KNOW WHO WE ARE - but the internet-connected device has no way of really making sure without MFA.

MFA for Company Email

On your company phone, it only makes sense to have access to company email, right? With the latest wave of safety rules and features, we are requiring MFA to be performed every 7 days on your cell phone to help make sure it is really you, and it's really your phone! When the MFA request for your company email appears, you can follow the on-screen instructions as they appear. BUT very importantly if you are not using the OUTLOOK app (as many don't) there is one more additional step that it doesn't tell you to do... let's go over the steps below:

When your phone alerts you "Cannot get Mail" and the message says "Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password" - click "Settings" on this popup
From here, you will be asked to use the Microsoft sign-in page to enter your password - click "ok" on this popup
Enter your company email if it does not autofill and advance on its own, then click "next"
Enter your password and click "next" again
From here, you will receive a 2 digit code to enter into authenticator, and you will also receive a notificiation from the Authenticator app to approve the sign-in - follow this notification to approve the sign-in
Enter the 2 digit code from the previous screen, and click "Approve" - then follow on-screen prompts to unlock the phone
Once you are in the Authenticator app, you will see "Sign in Approved" at the top of your screen in a small black banner - this is where our critical last step comes in!
GO BACK TO SETTINGS by tapping "<Settings" on the top left corner, or using gestures to navigate back to the settings app. After a moment, settings will refresh, and your MFA request will be confirmed. Your email is ready to be used again!

MFA for Microsoft Teams

On your company phone, it only makes sense to have access to teams too, right? With the latest wave of safety rules and features, we are requiring MFA to be performed every 7 days on your cell phone to help make sure it is really you, and it's really your phone! When the MFA request for your company email appears, you can follow the on-screen instructions as they appear. Bear in mind that if you aren't using the OUTLOOK app, then Teams and Email are treated separately on your phone, so these instructions will need to be followed twice!

When your phone alerts you to "please sign in to Microsoft Teams" click "ok"
Enter your company email if it does not autofill and advance on its own, then click "next"
Enter your password and click "next" again
From here, you will receive a 2 digit code to enter into authenticator, and you will also receive a notificiation from the Authenticator app to approve the sign-in - follow this notification to approve the sign-in
Enter the 2 digit code from the previous screen, and click "Approve" - then follow on-screen prompts to unlock the phone
Once you are in the Authenticator app, you will see "Sign in Approved" at the top of your screen in a small black banner, then your phone should return to the Teams app
